Album Info:I was aware that Ashland, VA is a railroad fan hot spot for photos because trains run through town down the middle of Center Street, although it's not actually street running. I was driving from Myrtle Beach back home to Pennsylvania, and I took a short detour off of I-95 to check out Ashland. The station is just 1.6 miles west of the I-95 exit, so this is an easily seen railfan photo location for people passing through on the Interstate. Ex Richmond Fredricksburg & Potomac double track mainline. I waited less than 15 minutes before a northbound train came through and I got the shot I was hoping for. I could see the headlight several miles out to the south because the track south of town is a long straight stretch. The north view is not so expansive, but I suspect trains blowing for grade crossings would alert photographers of oncoming southbound trains.
