A note on the back of the photo states "In a recent order of U23B's for L&N, 2745-49 were experimentally set to produce 2700-2800 HP, a U27B? LN U23B #2807 heads up a 5 unitlashup near Hopkinsville, KY. GE, 1/1975. LN 2807 ended up on the Conrail roster and then upon the breakup, it moved over as CSX #3308. A note on the back of the photo states "L&M U23B #2807 in solid gray (Note contrast made by yellow "L&N" lettering, handrails, etc) in charge of Northbound freight 768. Half of the large locomotive consist is actual power for freight. Other half part of power transfer from Radnor to Atkinson Yd. 6/8/75 just north of Hopkinsville, KY."This is a Jerry Mart photo. |

A note on the back of the photo states "In 5/1980 a rebuilt U23B #2803:2 (ex 2818) was relettered with commemoration to the South Louisville (KY) shops since 1980 is their 75th Anniversary.
