Album Info:Here is a four-page article by Mr. David P. Morgan entitled "The Case Of The I1 That Lost Her (Cylinder) Head." It was published originally in the June 1981 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 36-39. "For the setting is the defunct Elmira Branch, and these machines are pulling and shoving 60 loads of coal up the Lycoming Creek Valley out of Williamsport, Pa., bound for the boats on Lake Ontario at Sodus Point, N.Y. It's Sunday, May 5, 1957, and Dr. Philip R. Hastings, camera at the ready, is tracking Extra 4311 North as big-game hunters trail their quarry in Kenya."

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4311, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during November of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959 after 37 years of faithful service. It is pulling a northbound coal train on the Elmira Branch near Leolyn, Pennsylvania.

Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4632, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in January of 1931, and retired in January of 1960. Behind it are two PRR Diesel locomotives: #5756 and #5757. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company as AP-20's in November of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower each, later regeared and reclassified as AFP-20's, and retired in September of 1962. Also visible is PRR N-5C cabin car #477859.

On the right is PRR engine #4632, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in January of 1931, and retired in January of 1960.
