Album Info:GFRR operates GF87 more comonly known as the "Beer Train" which is mostly 50' box cars loaded with Miller products from the Miller plant locateded in Albany Ga. The train travels east to Sparks Ga. where it hits NS's GS&F North District and obtains trackage rights to Langdale Yard in Valdosta Ga. where NS forwards the movement south towards Florida. Florida is were all of the contents are distrubeted and consumed. For a while the train used two former Camis Prarie B23-7s which were built for Southern Railway and retired by NS and sent to Livingston Rebuild Center where they received Chopped short hoods and there cabs reconfigured for short hood first operation. They have since been replaced by two former CN GP40-2Ws.These are a few shots of the train making its way south. At Adel GFRR run the line from Adel Ga. where it make interchange with NS to Folley Florida. The train was built and ready to go for the next days run and was sitting just west of the I75 over pass with two former Boston & Maine nee Gulford GP40-2s for power.

Description:  GF job 87 passes through Bridgeboro Ga with two ex CN GP40-2Ls and a ex IC GP10 which was still in full IC colors. In recent years since the 87 job started, It has picked more work than the so called "Beer Train" started out with. More often than not, The crew would reach the hours of service law at Sparks on it's return trip back from Valdosta.

Description:  GF87 is seen here on it's return trip back to Albany Ga passing through Reed Bingham State Park. Conductor J.W. Goodwin stands guard on the front of the leading unit checking for any defects in the track from sun kinks as the train tip toes over the bridge. Although it ran several hours earlier than I would have liked.
