Description:
Here is a steam locomotive portrait by D.W. Eldridge that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 27 August 1946. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9629, an L-2S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the American Locomotive Company as GR&! number "110" during March of 1919 and retired in September of 1948. Partially visible at the right is PRR engine #9439, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by ALCo as an H-8C in February of 1913, rebuilt in Juniata as an H-10S in March of 1918, and retired in February of 1956.
