Description:  Chicago Aurora & Elgin Railroad coach 20 at South Elgin, Illinois on an unknown day in August 1979, Ektachrome Chuck Zeiler. Number 20 was built by the Niles Car & Manufacturing Company in 1902. This was one mf 30 cars ordered in 1902 to begin service on the Aurora Elgin & Chicago Railroad, chartered March23, 1906, later reorganized as the Chicago Aurora & Elgin Railrnad. Ten cars of the initial order were built by Niles, numbers 10 -28, even numbers only. The rest of the cars in the 1902 order were built by John Stephenson Car Company.

Description:  Chicago Aurora & Elgin Railroad coach 24 at the Laramie Yards in Chicago, Illinois, unknown date and photographer, scanned from a 2¾X4½ print, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 24 was built by the Niles Car and Manufacturing Company in 1902. I ballparked the posted date based on notes in CERA Bulletin 105 which indicate that the arched windows were blocked off during July 1943. This car was equipped with four GE66B traction motors, Baldwin trucks, two GE C6 controllers, seating for 52 passengers, and was retired in 1959.
