Description:  Shortly after the arrival of New Orleans Public Belt SW1000's 101-106 and SW1500's 151-153 in July and August 1971, several of the Baldwin switchers which had been used as trade-in credit with EMD were parked at the railroad's engine terminal, waiting to be scrapped. On the right were two of the new units along with one of the railroad's SW1200's. (approximate day)

Title:  NOPB DS-4-4-660 47
Description:  New Orleans Public Belt Railroad number 47 was switching the south end of Claiborne Yard, along the west side of the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal. The smokestacks identified the location of the Lone Star cement plant, and were landmarks in this neighborhood for many years. The 47 was a Baldwin DS-4-4-660 built in January 1949 for $73,950. It was traded-in to EMD the year after this photo was taken and it was scrapped in New Orleans. (approximate day)

Description:  New Orleans Public Belt DS-4-4-660 number 49 was switching a wharf along the Mississippi River near the Louisville & Nashville station. The locomotive had been built as Baldwin serial no. 73897 in January 1949 at a cost of $73,950 and was the third of three units built for the NOPB that month. It was retired in 1971, traded in to EMD and was scrapped by a contractor in New Orleans. (approximate date)
