NOPSI at the New Basin Canal |
Description: |
An unidentified New Orleans Public Service street car was crossing the NEW BASIN CANAL drawbridge on South Carrollton Avenue. This was a TULANE BELT car heading towards the Mississippi River. The streetcar line here was replaced by the TULANE trolleybus line on 8 January 1951, and the canal was filled in shortly after that. PELICAN STADIUM was on the other side of the canal; it was torn down in October 1957. (approximate date of photo) |
