CN 0-6-0 #7260 - Canadian National |
Description: |
Here is another cute Canadian National switcher with a long and varied history from what I've pieced together. It was built built by the Canadian Locomotive Co of Kingston, Ont in November of 1906 for the Intercolonial Rwy as their #100. When the Canadian Government nationalized the railroads into the Canadian Government Rwys in 1913, it was renumbered as #805. When the CGR was reorganized as the Canadian National Rwy, it was again renumbered as 7175 in 1919. Sometime before its retirment, it was again renumbered to 7260 as it appears here. Officially it was retired in January of 1952 and stood dormant for 2 years. Finally it was sold to Intercolonial Coal Co., Westville, Nova Scotia, in Jaunuary, 1953. Some discrepancy exists whether it remained with the Intercolonial Coal Co or was resold to Tibbets Paint Co., Trenton Nova Scotia in 1964. Another source has its last working days serving the Drummond Coal Co of Westville, Nova Scotia. Somehow it ended up being donated to the Museum of Industry in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Finally this "boomer" has some rest! |
