CB&Q Depot at Naperville, Illinois
Title:  CB&Q Depot at Naperville, Illinois
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad depot at Naperville, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1981 Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This depot was built in 1910. As a teenager ( circa 1965 ) I hung around this station, both as a railfan and an employee of the local newspaper agency, retrieving newspaper supplements as they were delivered by the CB&Q. Behind me was a tavern, and unfortunately, I was a minor so I never saw the inside of the tavern, but I did witness folks arriving on the CB&Q would frequent the tavern on their way home, a club house from my teenage perspective.

Looks like the hogger did a good job of spotting the locomotive's front steps on the crosswalk to the station.

BN/CB&Q Depot, St Joseph MO
Title:  BN/CB&Q Depot, St Joseph MO
Description:  This small, brick station was opened off 6th Street in 1959 to replace the cavernous old St Jo Union Depot located downtown. As of 1960 it had 12 trains a day and you ride to KC, Omaha, Lincoln and Chicago from here. It's last passenger train, a one-car BN Kansas City to Omaha operation, departed on the eve of Amtrak. I shot this picture fully intending to come back and get one of it in better light- alas, the building was knocked down in 2008.

Small town Missouri; no tracks
Title:  Small town Missouri; no tracks
Description:  Skidmore MO is a small Nodaway County farm town of about 400 souls in northwest Missouri. This quiet little place made national news twice in the last 20 years as the site of a pair of stunning murders. Rail wise it laid on one of the Burlington Route's web of branches throughout northern Missouri and southern Iowa. The "Q" line north of town towards the Hawkeye State was abandoned in 1955, the portion south came up through Maitland in 1977 under the BN. Now all that remains is the depot and signs of the old right-of-way.
