BNSF 2076 |
Description: |
GP38-2 2076 leads sister unit 2080 with a train of tank cars. The units were built in 1970, and were some of the first units to arrive new for BN. The unusual cars behind the engines are used for hauling large sub-assemblies of airplanes for Boeing. Today, they are being used as buffer cars. The second car, TBCX 777015, is one of 20 cars in the 777000 series. These cars were built to haul sub-assemblies for Boeing 777s from Wichita to Everett. Still frame from original video. |

Aircraft Parts Car |
Description: |
BNSF 800516 is an aircraft parts car. Its the same basic idea as an Auto parts boxcar, but carrying large plane sub-assemblies required some reworking of the standard boxcar. The large covers (labeled on first and off first) are designed to be lifted off by a crane. Its a similar idea to a steel coil car. Today, its serving as a buffer car. Still frame from original video. |
