PRR 559, L-1S, 1956
Marianchuk. Here is an original color photo (converted to B&W) by an unidentified photographer that was taken near the Roundhouse in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, on 20 October 1956. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #559, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during November of 1914 and retired in August of 1959 after 45 years of faithful service. Note the Hostler on the tender's deck, refilling the reservoir. "Fill 'er up, Mack!"
