EL RENO OK Feb 4 1980 -- Rock Island GP9R 4489 is in for service. Also discernable are GP7R 4441, GP7R 4454, SW1 531 and U33B 285. This is a view of the El Reno shop facility looking east-southeast from the U.S. 81 overpass. Note the freshly painted box cars.

AARON COOK General This is the best photo from this perspective of the El Reno Shops I have seen. The cars were painted in a new booth that is on the track to the right of the red RI switcher. The three track brick shop was the heavy diesel repair shop. The Locomotives in the photo are on the two tracks that lead to the two track running repair shop. You can just see the edge of it in the uper right hand corner of the pic. 1/29/2012 7:56:01 PM
Ken Roble General I heard at one time that someone claimed they found the ROCK stencils were found in the blue paint booth but never proved it. A great photo Charles! 4/16/2012 12:14:45 AM
