This 1911 Baldwin built loco and two other sisters (300-301) were originally ordered by Rock Island but sold to AT&N in September of 1912, not sure what the circumstances were. This was a class 300 with 56" drivers and developed 180 psi boiler pressure for its 18"x26" cylinder diameter & stroke. It had an engine weight of 124,00 lb and a tractive effort of 23,016 lb. Notation on the back "Note passenger car's round end windows = Long Island or Pacific Electric". Obviously, the photographer was not aware of the local passenger service in Alabama whose cars are similar. R. H. Carlson photo. The date is approximate. |
