UP GP15-1 1670
Union Pacific Railroad GP15-1 1670 leading GP38-2 2081, and B30-7A 246 at Cotter, Arkansas on January 27, 1989, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The White River is in the foreground. The railroad generally followed the course of the river for the next 30 or 40 miles to the right in this photo. I heard the locals refer to the track the train is on as Ten Track,

Iver Tranes General That's alot of power for one tank and a hack! 11/24/2014 1:12:51 PM
Chuck Zeiler General I almost made the same comment myself, but from experience I knew that generally another train would arrive and setout more cars for this train to pick up and work the various industries along the way. Northbound, the direction this train is facing, was the Ozarks, and it was a steady 1% climb for the next 30-40 miles, so the extra power was handy, not mention that this was a long way from a maintenance facility, so any locomotive failure would mess up this single track railroad. 11/24/2014 6:09:59 PM
