CWRC 1211
CWRC 1211 at Monroe. During the summers of 1983 & 1984, the City of Monroe and Green County began complaining about the numerous grass fires started by Central Wisconsin trains. The City and County blamed faulty railroad equipment and noted WIWR 1204 and CWRC 783 were the main causes. The Central Wisconsin blamed the dry summers. The outcome??? Central Wisconsin renumbered the 1204 to 1207, and renumbered the 783 to 1211 to confuse local fire officials!

Andre Wehrle General Although I was about 14 months shy of being born when they folded, your description of the CWRC/WIWR's struggles in the album description is apt from everything I've read. However, we can thank them for keeping alive (if barely) many of the secondary lines in southern Wisconsin that now form the WSOR Southern Division. 6/23/2022 7:44:35 PM
