PRR Westbound Freight, #3 of 3, 1965
Everyday. Here is an original telephoto views that I took at the Wye Switches in in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, in November of 1965. Shown here are two unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad "EF" Class diesel-electric locomotives built by GM-EMD pulling a string of new H-43B 100-ton hopper cars. They're passing WYE Tower on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the New Portage Branch and the Muleshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. This is not only the original right-of-way of the Allegheny Portage Railroad from 1834 through 1854, but also the location of the runaway train wreck of 6 November 1916.
