UP 6900  Contributor's Pick!       
Built around 1970, these locomotives were nicknamed "Centennial" because they first started arriving on the 100th anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. These locomotives were the largest diesels in the world, and UP made good use of them, putting 2 million miles on the average ones.
