It was published originally in the November 1957 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 28. Photos by Philip R. Hastings. Top & Bottom Photos: Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #3445 and #4268. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods." #3445 was built in Juniata as an I-1S during 1919, rebuilt as an I-1SA in January of 1947, and retired in November of 1958. #4268 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959. Note that the helpers are ahead of the cabin car, PRR Class N-5 #477006! |
