I was frustrated by the inability to get a closer shot of WAMX 4170's short hood end bathed in sunlight, suspecting (correctly) that the clouds would build back in by the time the wye switch problems were sorted and the train on the move again. A careful study of Google Maps aerial view revealed the existence of a public dog park just south of the substation next to the switch. I picked my way through the melting, but still deep snow and poop piles to the northeast corner of the fence. The view it affords isn't stellar, still partially obstructed by a hill and the vegetation on it, but better than nothing. This is after I had trudged back to my car to retrieve my stepladder for some additional elevation. |
