Switchman Images General According to Mike Murray, with photo evidence, these two units were scrapped over the past week. :( 10/3/2007 12:08:33 PM
Gregg Bartley General For some reason, CF7 locos sort of remind me of salimanders. Head to big for the body... 12/12/2007 5:12:01 PM
Adam T. Fritz General Thank you to whover just scrapped those things, those are the ugliest things ever, not even a decent paint scheme! 12/17/2007 7:12:06 AM
Zak Lybrand General How could you say that? The CF7s were a vital part of railroading history, in showing us that in a time of need, some railroads had to turn to themselves in order to get new power. 10/28/2008 9:10:10 PM
Doug Little General would agree on paint scheme - but the CF7 is an example of "home-shop rebuilding" success story 11/11/2008 6:56:17 PM
David Nutter General Nice shot 6/6/2009 7:40:29 PM
Jim Satterwhite General These two units were fixtures in Saginaw, Texas for almost 21-years! 7/29/2009 8:55:53 PM
Marlowe Barnes General Great shot, Mike. Too bad those units went to the top of the heap at some scrap yard. 12/13/2009 9:09:01 PM
Patrick Smith General That's very sad to hear that these locos no longer live. I wonder why they were cut up, they appear to be in sound condition here. I got a soft spot for the CF7's, they grew on me after watching them on the Florida Central for so many years. 6/22/2010 5:29:44 AM
Paul Rome General Great shot Mike! 3/29/2011 7:57:00 PM
Greg Jewett General nice shot mike 4/29/2011 9:57:12 PM
John Danielson General Very nice shot! It was on the homepage. 6/11/2011 7:43:05 PM
Steve E General They were an Ugly Beast ! Just saw one last week in rural Minnesota 8/31/2011 11:04:40 PM
Fred Stuckmann General Great shot Mike, these CF7s remind me of the new CSX SD40-3 rebuilds. 11/13/2011 2:03:41 PM
Mike Maskel General nice shot 11/29/2011 4:29:58 PM
George Sillett General I agree, they remind me of CSX SD40-3s. Nice shot! 1/19/2012 9:57:04 AM
Tom Beckett General To add to some of the above comments, the CF 7 was a rebuild success story. Santa Fe's Cleburne shop was deep into capital rebuilds before the term was invented. They rebuilt several hundred retired F units into what was essentially a new GP 7 there, and put them into service systemwide in a host of yard and local duties, where they lasted many more years. The shop also rebuilt SD 24's into SD 26's, a number of them ultimately winding up on Guilford in the 1980's, where they lasted til the Millennium. The CF 7's, once retired by ATSF, wound up on short lines nationwide, where they spent another whole lifetime. Even NYSW had a couple. Home page 05-17-2019 5/17/2019 2:33:27 AM
Tom Beckett General It is kind of an odd paint scheme, and one you would think is not very visible at road crossings, but in a way, I kinda like it. Home page 02-22-2021 2/22/2021 4:37:19 AM
