The year after the Illinois Central and the Gulf Mobile & Ohio merged into the ICG, GM&O S2 number 1006 was switching at Meridian. Although it had been assigned ICG number 1055, none of the GM&O's fifteen S1's or twelve S2's were ever repainted for the ICG, and all were retired by March 1975. (approximate date of photo) |
